In this episode, we explored the luxurious Sofitel Saigon Plaza, a French-inspired hotel that embodies sophistication and elegance. Known for its five-star quality and distinctive French flair, this iconic brand has expanded significantly since its acquisition in the 1980s. Stepping into the Sofitel is like being transported to a different era, with its blend of modern luxury and classic French touches.
The hotel offers a variety of dining options and private
nooks, creating an inviting atmosphere to relax and unwind. The scent of
freshly baked pastries fills the air, drawing you into the club level—a
private, exclusive area that feels like a world of its own. Despite the
building’s age of around 30 years, the interiors have been carefully updated,
maintaining a chic, timeless appeal that resonates with Saigon’s colonial
charm.
As we entered our room, we were greeted by a stylish entryway leading to a semi-private bathroom featuring double doors, a shower-tub combo, and all the essentials, albeit with a few signs of age. The rich purple hues and birdcage motifs throughout the room add a touch of whimsy to the sophisticated décor. Though some aspects of the hotel show their age, it’s clear that the Sofitel maintains a high standard of comfort and service.
We were also invited to explore the hotel’s restaurants, but
a private event prevented us from dining at one of them. Instead, we headed to
the French bistro for a truly indulgent meal. The lobster bisque was presented
beautifully, and the oysters, though not usually my favorite, were a delightful
surprise. The flavors were rich and balanced, perfectly capturing the decadence
of French cuisine.
One standout feature of the hotel is its pool, a serene
oasis in the bustling city. The pool area is a perfect escape from the heat of
Saigon, offering a shaded retreat to enjoy a cocktail or simply relax. The
third floor houses several high-end amenities, including a well-equipped
fitness center and a yoga studio with beautiful wooden floors, all enveloped in
a calming ambiance.
What impressed me most was the thoughtful division of
amenities catering to both men and women. Despite this gender-specific
approach, all guests can enjoy the facilities, reflecting a unique and
inclusive hospitality concept. The Sofitel’s attention to detail in creating
these distinct experiences is something I haven’t seen in other hotels.
The hotel’s location on Le Duan Avenue places you in the
heart of Saigon, surrounded by majestic trees and some of the city’s most
beautiful parks. It’s the perfect base for exploring the vibrant surroundings,
and the hotel’s classic yet modern design blends seamlessly with the city’s
colonial architecture.
Breakfast at the Sofitel did not disappoint. The buffet spread was a feast for the senses, offering a variety of dishes with meticulous attention to detail. From fresh fruit juices to made-to-order omelets, the options were endless. I particularly appreciated the focus on health-conscious choices, like anti-aging watermelon juice—a refreshing start to the day.
Overall, our stay at the Sofitel Saigon Plaza was
exceptional. The service was top-notch, the food was exquisite, and the
amenities were thoughtfully curated to provide a truly luxurious experience.
Whether you're here for business or leisure, the Sofitel offers a refined and
relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel right at home in the heart of Saigon.
It’s more than just a hotel—it’s a vibrant hub of culinary delights and elegant
comfort. We left feeling pampered and completely satisfied, looking forward to
our next visit.
