I stayed at the King Century Hotel in Zhongshan, China, and it was a pleasant and affordable alternative to some of the more well-known luxury options in the city. Located right next to the downtown Zhongshan Hilton, the King Century Hotel offers many of the same upscale amenities at about half the price.
My room had a king-size bed that was incredibly comfortable, with soft bedding that made for a great night's sleep. The room came equipped with all the essentials: full-length mirrors, a mini-bar, and complimentary water bottles, although the more premium Evian water was available for an additional fee. I especially appreciated the bathroom amenities, which included a shaving kit, a care package, and plush robes. One downside was the lack of an iron and ironing board—something I could have used to freshen up my suit for an event.
The hotel’s location is a big plus. Situated next to Lihe Plaza, I had easy access to plenty of dining options right outside the hotel, including international choices like Indian and Japanese restaurants. It's also attached to a high-end mall, offering shopping convenience without needing to leave the premises.
Although the hotel is a little older, the service was excellent, and the staff were attentive. I was also impressed by the gym facilities, which were open to the public but complimentary for hotel guests. The fitness center was well-maintained and came with a range of equipment, making it easy to keep up with workouts during my stay.
The hotel has a lot to offer, but I couldn’t help but notice some signs of aging in the infrastructure. For example, the TV in the room was a bit outdated, and some of the areas, like the pool, seemed to have been neglected, especially in winter.
One unique aspect of the King Century is its focus on catering to both Chinese and international guests. From the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant to the diverse cuisine options nearby, it’s clear they aim to provide a well-rounded experience. However, they fall a bit short in some international areas—such as the lack of a Mexican restaurant, which I personally missed.
Despite these small issues, for the price I paid—around 360 RMB per night—it was a great value for a five-star hotel in the heart of Zhongshan. It’s an excellent option if you’re looking to stay somewhere luxurious without breaking the bank.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the King Century Hotel for anyone traveling to Zhongshan, especially if you're looking for a balance between luxury and affordability.
